Minister Jetten publishes room letter net congestion
Last week, Minister Jetten published the parliamentary letter ‘Progress on tackling grid congestion’. Like the minister, Holland Solar recognises that grid congestion is a large and complex problem. We see room for improvements in the following areas:
- Accelerated implementation of congestion management:
Congestion management offers benefits to the solar industry by creating more space on the grid, allowing more parties to be connected. - Clear information:
There is a need for concrete information on available capacity (with substantiation), transport capacity prospects, queue development. This provides entrepreneurs and project developers with the needed clarity and prospects. - Transparency on available power by region:
By giving project developers insight into the available grid capacity per region, they can submit more targeted applications, thereby clearing the queue. Although Netbeheer Nederland's new grid capacity map is a good first step, Holland Solar still sees room for improvement. In many places, this map is not accurate because certain areas are already marked as RED while TENNET is still working on its congestion survey.
By applying congestion management more often and with solar installations offering controllable power, part of the grid's capacity shortfall can be solved.
