Sales Engineer Solar & BESS

Utrecht / Hybrid | 40 hours per week | Bachelor/Master degree |  

ProfiNRG is one of the leading and most successful (solar) energy companies in the Netherlands, based in Utrecht. For over 10 years, we have been active in the development, sales, realisation and maintenance of large-scale solar energy systems within the C&I (Commercial & Industrial) and Utility market. We develop large-scale solar parks and design and supply integrated renewable energy solutions, including EV charging systems, batteries, solar panels and energy management systems.

Due to our international growth ambitions (Benelux, France, Germany and Scandinavia), we are looking for a Sales Engineer Solar & BESS.

The Role

You combine technical knowledge with commercial insight by making clear calculations, business cases and tender submissions for solar and battery systems. As technical point of contact, you ensure that solutions are safe, comply with all regulations and that colleagues and partners work well together and understand what is needed. You will also help improve and simplify solutions and contribute to new products and ideas for the future.

Your responsibilities

  • Support tender processes: preparing the technical components of tenders, RFIs, RFPs and offers; ensuring technical compliance and highlighting distinctive value.
  • Develop system performance analyses and business cases: modelling system yields, charging profiles, battery cycles and ROI calculations to support commercial proposals.
  • Risk analysis & feasibility studies: identifying technical, financial and implementation risks (including grid congestion, safeguards, licensing risks and PGS37-1 requirements).
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations: verify that solutions comply with NEN, IEC and EU directives, requirements of grid operators and PGS directives.
  • technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, certifying bodies and engineering partners in tenders


You will work from our office in Utrecht.

What to bring

You are proactive, structured and solution-oriented, with a strong technical basis and a pragmatic, commercial attitude. A true team player, you move easily between engineering, tender processes and management. Knowledge of and experience with battery storage systems (BESS) is a must in this position.

In addition, you possess:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering or another relevant technical field;
  • Experience in solar energy systems (PV), battery storage systems (BESS), EMS and EV systems;
  • Experience with tender and procurement processes (RFI/RFP/quotes) is a plus;
  • Familiarity with standards and regulations;
  • Excellent communication skills in English is a must, Dutch a big plus;
