The Holland Solar Working Group on Local Policy has published the fact sheet ” Harvest the Sun”. This fact sheet provides an overview of solutions that solar parks can offer and highlights the crucial role of large-scale solar energy projects within the energy transition. The fact sheet is intended to disseminate additional information to the 12 Dutch provinces, regional organisations, officials, state members, councillors and other relevant partners.

The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) calculated in April 2024 that, to achieve the energy transition, the demand for electricity in 2050 will be three to five times higher than today. The fact sheet describes how large-scale solar projects will play a crucial role in producing all this electricity. The fact sheet ” Harvest the Sun ” focuses on the following topics:

• Opportunities for biodiversity
• Solar energy on farmland
• Facts and fables about solar energy
• Derogations for solar energy on agricultural land
